We could not do our special work without our horses' willingness to partner with us. Their unique histories and experiences are reflected in their personalities which we appreciate wholly. Read below to learn more about them and, if you feel compelled to support their care, donate to our Equine Care Fund-which covers essential health care needs and extraordinary emergency expenses.

Cutter, whose AQHA registered name is "Cuttin Pretty", is a 2003 gelding who joined our herd in September 2025. Cutter is a striking dappled palomino with a personality to match his flashy coloring. Coming from a long term home that celebrated his special demeanor, Cutter is grounded, curious, authentic, and outgoing. He often draws new or wary visitors in with his engaging but peaceful state of being and holds their attention with his deep but playful wisdom.

Elmo is a 2018 Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse who is as sweet as he is adorable. His expressive doe-like eyes are filled with curiosity and contentment despite having a somewhat rocky start to life. Elmo loves playing bitey face with his friends, putting his feet in his dinner, and eating ice despite having perfectly good water available... he's a bit of a goober and reliably gives humans a giggle!

Freya is a mid-20's Percheron Mare rescued by the local CT Draft Horse Rescue at auction in Summer 2023. When she arrived to the rescue she was incredibly wary of humans, always hiding behind other members of the herd. She arrived to our farm in January 2024 and has come out of her shell slowly. She is curious and engaged, always watching what is going on around her. We cant wait to see who she becomes over time!

Jack is a 16.2 hand 2013 Off the track Thoroughbred, and might look familiar from the logo (thats him!). He joined the farm in March 2020 as one of the first boarders and was central to the development of our horse-centric care. Jack is intuitive, expressive, and bold. He expects his people to be grounded and emotionally congruent and gives very clear feedback when they are not. Jack knows many tricks (smiling is a favorite) and is revered by humans for his silly antics.

Fleur de Lis, lovingly known as Lily, is a 2004 Trakehner X Arabian who joined the herd in January 2025. She made a quick adjustment to outdoor horse life (this is her first time living out, ever!) courtesy of her love of hay and horsey friends. Lily had an impressive career in the hunters prior to moving to Factum Equine, and still looks quite fancy under saddle despite being semi-retired. Lily has a strong affinity for meal time and always lets us know with knickers if we are moving too slowl

Marty is an incredibly smart haflinger pony gelding- though he is stout in height, he is supersized in the personality department. Previously an amish driving horse, Marty is extensively trained with R+ and in classical dressage by his person. He is an excellent problem solver and enthusiastically engaged learner. When his humans car comes down the driveway, he knickers excitedly to see her which brings a smile to everyones face.

Mav is a 17 hand 2007 Off the track Thoroughbred who worked as a summer camp horse before exploring the show ring as a hunter. Maverick joined the farm in Spring 2022 and is, as his person says "just a really nice horse to be around". Mav is fun and engaging, often coming across his entire paddock to see visitors and get forehead scratches. He loves his horsey friends, too, regularly playing through the fence and sharing his alfalfa with them.

Summie is a 2014 bay Off the Track Thoroughbred gelding, JC name: Summer by the Lake that joined our herd in November 2025. Summie is a been there done that kind of fellow that makes us love OTTB's. He is as cool as a cucumber, up for any adventure in the world, and is a super reliable mount both on the trails and in the arena. On thr ground, Summie is curious and reasonable. His favorite paddock trick is playing chicken with the gator to demand throat scratches before allowing passage.

Elowen, affectionately known as "Winnie" is an early 20's Percheron x Thoroughbred who joined the herd in March 2024. Other than awareness that Winnie was a Premarin mare in her early life, we dont know much about her history before 2020. She had a foal in the last couple of years and has been an expressive and engaged partner for her human- she is particularly invested in R+ training that involves h. Winnie has a silly meal routine and warns her neighbors with a squeal when they get too close!
If you enjoyed a herd member at the farm but you dont see them here, please know that not all of our horses are comfortable being showcased online.

We provide monthly musings on equine care, approximations of species appropriate care, human motivation + wellness, and updates on upcoming programs/events.
