Please reach us at hello@factumequine.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We primarily offer unmounted wellness programming with horses. We do not teach riding lessons, host birthday parties, or offer trail rides on our horses. Chelsea is a PATH, International instructor mentor and is happy to work with aspiring instructors or programs in a consulting capacity. We also enjoy interfacing with owners or managers about implementing species appropriate care options with their horses/at their own property.
Our attendees are people who are interested in feeling better and are open to alternative experiences for increasing well-being. Most clients are experiencing circumstances such as chronic overwhelm, burn out, grief, anxiety, depression, trauma and may have feelings that they dont belong or are not enough. Here, you do belong and you are enough.
Our clients come from all walks of life and generally have limited to no experience with horses. We serve individuals over age 12 and due to our physical landscape do have mobility related restrictions in certain programs. If you are questioning whether your circumstance warrants participation or are reluctant to take a spot from someone who "really needs it" please reach out.
To maintain our Place of Peace for humans and horses, we are a private facility and are not open to the public for drop in visits. If you are interested in learning about boarding opportunities or any of our programs, please email at hello@factumequine.org to schedule a visit.
We're glad you're interested in collaborating with us! The first step is to reach out at hello@factumequine.org. We will ask general questions like: how many attendees, general availability, goals for the event, and any restrictions to be aware of. With this information, we will craft a tentative plan with experiences that reflect your shared goals. If you are on board with the proposed activities, we will share required paperwork, set an agreed upon cost, and confirm a date/time for your visit.
You dont follow GPS, for starters. Because of our remote location, GPS often brings visitors on unmaintained roads. Please turn directly onto Honey Hill Road from Route 82 and follow Honey Hill past Florida Road, Clark Road, and Hedlund (all these roads are narrow and not suitable for first time visitors). Honey Hill will turn to dirt and you will cross under the power lines, wondering if you're even close. After the lines, our driveway is the first on the left near the mailbox marked "farm".
As a non-profit organization, we rely on assistance to support our work. Several times per year, we need strong and motivated volunteers for farm clean up, hay stacking, or special projects- please keep an eye on our social media or email us at hello@factumequine.org to learn about volunteering needs.
Our Equine Care Fund supports essential health care for our herd and holds up to $15,000 at any given time for emergent, extraordinary care our horses.
Last, we have an Amazon Wishlist which can be found at: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/29MV695YO80I9?ref_=wl_share Items can be shipped directly to the farm at 175 Honey Hill Road East Haddam CT.
